hey guys, im looking into getting real plants but dont want to splash out on a load of plants i would prefer to cut and relpant the offcuts into the substrate and have them planted throughout so something really fast growing easy to maintain and something that all my fish will enjoy when introduced. but nothing too delicate as i dont want to seive out a load of leaves everyday.

crypts? there not fast growing but there fairly cheap. some stem plants. like cabomba are fast growing. Amazon swords (although they dont spread easily) java moss? or other types of mosses

theres a few plants but theres lots more you could have

Any stems mate, Stargrass (Heteranthera Zosterifolia) is very fast growing, beautiful and can be propogated. Hygrophila is another fast growing, easily propogated plant, so is Hornwort.

and non of the plants ou have mentioned need any specific needs such as substrate? or temp or lighting? and will they go with most species of fish as ive heard some species dint get along and destroy the plants? is that true ? :)

karl

Those species need to be between 22-28 degrees C and they will need some lighting but nothing intense.

ah brill my tanks constantly 24 degrees but tbh it could be lit better than it is atm, hopefully upgrading soon though :) cant wait

Good good, if you dont want to dose ferts and CO2 make sure it's not too high light,, how many llitres or US gallons is your tank?

atm i only have a small 20 litre bt soon upgrading to 60 or 80 depending how cheap i can get it :)

Wisteria tends to absolutely explode once it gets going, in my experience.

can you take cuttings of that species and re plant them ? cos ideally id like to get three or four plants and just grow them on spearate them and just build it up naturally.

You could use any of the elodea species as well, do well in good/bad lighting and are fine at that temp. They are fast growing and yes you can replant the stems

I found elodea was the easiest, fastest-growing and undemanding plant around. I also like pennywort for its bright green color.
