i am curently housing 3 amazon swords who are failing abit (browning leaves, i beleive its lack of potasium) so im getting some root tabs to give extra nutrients to them as they are heavy root feeders, my substerate is eco-compleat and it is about 3 months old so no problems there.
i want some more amazon swords but also some fast growing leafy plants.
i need help on what plants to get, i like java fern so i might get some of them but also what else. i have Hard acidic water so i need pllants that will thrive in my water. and i would like them to grow fast.
i have co2 added sometimes to promote growth and i have 50W of lighting for a 52gallon tank.

Co2 sometimes is a bad idea,

inconsistent Co2 leads to algae :(

you need it to be consistant as possible
I like the Ludwigia Repens (fast growing)
and looks fab and hardy I believe.

Your amazon swords should be ok, just with root tabs. Actually, if I am not mistaken, the eco-complete should give it all the nutrients it needs when it is only 3 months old. I am keeping my amazon swords with an UGF and no root tabs. My lighting is also around 1 WPG/gallon.

How long have you had them? Maybe it is just the typical melting, and they will regrow afterwards?

ive had the swords about 3 months, well as long as ive had the tank really. ill keep and eye on the swords now and if anymore go "deadish" then ill see what happens but alot more leaves are growing but i had to chop of the "dead" leaves as xmas and we have loads of people around to see the new tank and we wanted it to look its best

Its a good idea to take of the dying leaves anyways so the plant doesn't waste its energy trying to save them.
