Hi

Can anyone help quickly? I accidently knocked off my Nutrafin CO2 tank yesterday and some of the contents of the canister got into my aquarium water. (Sugar Yeast & Bi Carb)

At the time it was gassing CO2 really well - this has caused a thin sheet of fungus to form ALL OVER the inside of the glass so it now looks like its all steamed up and probably all over everything else in the tank aswell.

Has anyone else done this and had the same problem??? How can I kill off the fungus without harming the fish/filter bacteria?

I introduced 5 guppies yesterday ( my tank has only been up for 4 weeks) - they are all at the top of the tank - It doesn't look like they are gasping for air but I don't know - is this normal behaviour for them?

Thankfully my nitrites are very low and also nitrates - I had just got everything balanced when this happened!

Its now 2 hrs later - I've done an 80% water change and found allmy glowlight tetras dead and one cherry barb yet the 2 guppy babies which appeared yesterday after I put the guppies in are still fine!!

HELP!!!!!!!!! THanks
Joy

fish seem a bit better with new water - anything I can add to kill of fungus from the yeast which obviously contaminated the tank?

Now 5 hrs later - water still a bit cloudy - guppies still at surface all the time - othr fish - 2 gouramis + 4 cherry barbs all swimming ok near bottom

Keep doing water changes and increase aeration as the yeast is probably producing co2 still and may be reducing the oxygen supply. Also, lower the temperature to as low as you can without harming your fish to increase available oxygen in the water.
