Ok, when you put the riccia on the slate, and pull the hairnet over it and tie it at the back, how tight does it have to be?

In my limited experience, as tight as tight can be !
Also, be veeeery careful with your bottom dwellers.
I've had a twig catfish as well as a bristle nose entangled in there. They were both fine in the end, but it wasn't a pretty sight :X and it's not easy to disentangle them either !

Thanks for the word of warning. I have 6 Otos to look out for then!

my riccia keeps 'getting out'....

Over night it all get out from under the net and ends up floating...

I think it might be helped on its way by our plecs.

That's gotta be frustrating!

Indeed it is... i've tied the net over a bit of slate... so i have to pull one corner off and stuff it all back under :)

Man, I hope my otos don't do that.

Speaking of Otos, my female ram mysteriously vanished overnight (I just recently lost the male to septecemia two days before), and the Otos looked rather fat the morning I noticed the female's disappearance. Hmmm.

Heh, yeah, I don't think they killed her though. I think she died and they ate the remains. Made me sad :(

Okay, so the riccia arrived. So I break it all up? so that it's all in REALLY TINY pieces?

Then how thick do I lay it on the slate?

Ok, never mind, I figured it out!

I have some riccia left over. Walt has already claimed some, but there's another for somebody else. I'd really like to trade for some other plants ie Zesterfolia or Rotala species, but if any of you special planted people who've been really helpful don't have anything to trade but want some free riccia, let me know..
