i've got zebra danios, glowlight tetras and 3 corys :D . i want a bigger rounder fish as the 'centre piece' :look: , a slower moving fish that will swim up and down peacefully :shifty: . any suggestions?

oh, forgot to mention - i've got about 6 or 7 inches to spare, going by the 1 inch per gallon rule :D

I would recomment some sort of Gourami or a pair of Dwarf Gouramis...to see pictures, go to Members Aquarium pictures and I have posted a couple pictures, I think the title is First attempt at pictures...in there is a good shot of my Pearl Gourami

Good luck

i've just looked at a couple of websites and they sound quite nice, only on a few of the websites they say that dwarf gouramis chase off other fish. is that common?

also, would a get a male and a female, or a male and 2 females, or just a male, or what??

i know, i'll go and ask in the gourami board!!

RSZ, I have 1 pearl gourami and two different dwarf gouramis, both are male (I think). The pearl is a shy loaner, one of the dwarfs occasionally is chased by the other, and the one that does the chasing is occasionally chased by a molly. Nothing serious though. I will try to attach the picture of the Pearl and another showing a dwarf with his molly friend.

so you have 3 males? that would be preferable to me, because the males look nicer

i've never kept gouramis before so all help is appreciated :D thanks

There has been much discussion on this forum about keeping male and/or female gouramis. :)

From my experience and from what I've learned from others here, I'd say that a male and female pair is the worst combination to have. The males do seem to bully the females.

But males seem to get along just fine together, especially if there are no females present. ;)

thanks for telling me. i'll probably get a pair of males now  , instead of a male and female :S it's very confusing though, all this business of fighting and bullying!! why can't they all just be friends?!

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!! now i'm all confused!! in this forum you've all been saying to get a pair of males, but in the gourami forum, they've said to get a male and female or else the male will get all teritorial. someone enlighten me... please??

well, i can only tell you from my experience of pearl gouramis a male and female would be the best combination.they are the more peaceful of the 'bigger' gouramis and the male will tend to display his splendid colouration when the female is present... :) pebbles
