Is there any rules, about placing fake plants infront of heaters?

Also, anyone tried taking a suction cup off in the water and moved it and then resuctioned it to the glass whilst still submurged :D

Not that I am aware of

Not recomended, in case you shock and break the heater, as this give potential for electric shock. If you don't mind the potential of electrocution though, then it would be fine to move it while on.

Hi
well first thing is you shouldint put fake plants in ur takr AT ALL
because real plants help maintain ur tank and keep it clean and the real plants look alot nicer

I think you're doing fine. I've never had a heater actually break while underwater so IMO its nothing to worry about. I don't understand why someone would say this is an issue? I can't imagine having to drain a tank to put a heater in place. Its just not realistic.

The one thing I have had happen with a heater is take it out of water while it was still too hot and it blew. So be careful to keep it submerged while hot.

Hi mate, i have fake plants in my tank (Which is cominga long very nicely now ^^) and i had some placed infront of the heater. There seems to be no problems with them being close to it, and my LFS said it was ok.

Thanks, I was thinking of purchasing a guard for it, as I got a new one today :>D

I am not surgesting that you have to drain a tank to position its heater. It is perfectly fine to do this while the tank is full. I was just stating that it is best practice to unplug the heater and other equipment, before working on the tank, just in case there is a mishap, and you accidentaly break a pice of equipment that is still plugged in, or if the equipment is already faulty. Failure to do so could lead to electrocution if an item of equipmenthas failed, as water can conduct electricity. I have be zapped by tanks with dodgy equipment before, and though it is not plesant, it isn't too damaging to your health unless you have a dodgy heart or other problems that could be amplifyed or triggerd by an electric shock.

This said I still rarely unplug my equipment before working on my tank, as I know there is little chance of me being ill-effected by failing to do so.

All the best

 Fake plants should be fine in front of the heater. Yes I have put my hands and moved the heater and suction cups around although it's really not recommended. Just don't keep the heater out of the water to long while it's plugged in.

Hi
fake plants are stupid get real ones

Wow your dumb.

Second That.

I have plants in front of the heater with no ill effects, so that will be fine. Plants are a good way to hide the heater. Yes you can take a suction cup off and re-stick it while its underwater. If the suction cup in question is attached to the heater, than it would be best to unplug it as rabbut said so it does not crack and cause electrocution. I have moved them without unplugging them but that can be dangerous, You never know when something will happen.

I have a plastic plant pracktically touching my heater and nothing has happened.

Thanks you three :D Settled my fears.

some people are not lazy like onlinebug and will get real plants since they look after the tank
