in my 10 gallon i have a lot of fake plants and the fish dont seem to mid they hid in them just like they would with real plants. IS this a ok thing to do?? Im getting a 30 gal octogon take on monday and was just currios if i should add live plants in that one and switch the fish over. Would they be ok with that?

In my experience I would say that most fish prefer live plants but at the same time most won't mind the fake plants. I think it's more personal preference as far as looks go. If you have sufficient lighting then keeping live plants can be a rewarding addition to the hobby.

The only suggestion I would have about fake plants if is you're going to keep any long tailed or long finned fish I would reccomend the silk plants over the plastics.

also depends on ur fish i have convicts and have had 2 use fake plants as hey shread real plants and dig them up :) lol but always silk plants look best

my opinion live plants are better for the fish. mine all seem to like the real ones better than the fake ones....... all except the suncat that is......... a mix of live and fake plants especially silk ones look really nice usually.
