Greetings,

I was thinking about going to a local craft store, and looking at their fake (plastic or silk) flowers and greenery. Does anyone know if I can use these fake plants in my new tank? Will it hurt anything? or do I need to stick with the one specifically made for aquariums?

Thanks,

As long as it is plastic or silk, i dont see a problem. Make sure there isnt any bare metal exposed because it will react in the water and rust, causing major damage to fish. Also, make sure there's no glitter or some sort of coating on them.

Good Info, Thanks!

Now I can go look at what they have. It seems like the selection would be more than what I've seen at the lfs. I'll post pics when I get that far. If anyone has a better source for buying a good variety of plastic or silk plant for aquariums, please share. I thought about real plants, but dont think I'm ready for that venture yet...

Thanks again,
