Fair trade?

Hi all.

Long time, no see! I miss y'all, but jus haven't had time to read and post. I've been working and sick (not a fun combination), and Kevin and I are in the process of moving. We have to be out of here by the end of the month and only have about four boxes packed It's going to be a busy few days.

Anyway...I have a question. I'm going to be trading tanks with someone - They're going to get the 55 with the tops (no lights) , and maybe the stand. I'll be getting a 30-long with the hood (and light strip), UGF, gravel, and heater. Is that a fair trade? I know a 30 for a 55 isn't, but is a 55 for a 30 with that stuff? If not, what do you think a fair price would be? I don't know what the condition of the 30 is. The 55 is in great condition, save for a little part of the plastic around the top, which got melted at some point.

the UGF is worth essetialy the price of the powerhead and gravleand that 25 gallons isn't worth the heater , I'd say your probably loseing a good 30 dollars on the trade

IMO I dont think it is worth it.

He has said he will pay the difference, but I have no idea what the difference would be. Any suggestions?

I agree with Opcn. Why do you want to get rid of the 55? Just buy a heater and an AC filter and its ready to go (60$ CDN later)

It doesn't seem fair IMO. What if you don't like the gravel that comes with it? And UGFs are just.. crap.
Chances are you're going to put more money into the 30 to make it into what you want, than it's worth.
Keep the 55.

The tank isn't mine. It's for my mom's classroom. She has the 55 in there, but it's taking up too much space, hence me trying to trade for a smaller one. The filter from the 55 can be used in the 30, so that's not a problem. The sand from the 55 will go into the 30. I'll probably tell the guy he can keep the gravel and UGF, 'cause I don't want them.

What I'm trying to figure out is what's a fair price to ask in addition to the 30 and stuff as a trade for the 55.

Why dont you swap tanks. But keep all the equipment from your 55. That way you wont have to buyt anything else, and it equals the difference in price! Isnt that a good idea?
