Went round to the girlfriends mates house last night, to collect some fish, as they're stopping keeping them....
I can see why.....
They had the following fish in a 3' x 18" x 18" tank:
1 x 10" Common Plec
2 x 3" Bala Sharks
1 x 6" Twig Cat Fish (species to be confirmed)
1 x large albino frog
The tank it self was disgusting, I felt sick when I saw it.... the water was soo cloudy and it smelt awful.
There were about 200 MTS Snail in there to.
The filter looked like it didn't have any filter media in it either.
I offered to take the 2 Bala Sharks and the twig catfish, as I know that the Common Plec was too big even for my 4'6" tank. I told them to take the Plec to the LFS asap and give it to them for free as it would die soon if they didn't.
The frog looked like it was almost dead to
So wish I could have saved the Plec and the frog, but I just don't have the room for them.
So, I got the 3 fish home last night, and set up a quarantine tank, in a 50L plastic bucket I use for cleaning my gravel. I put a FLuval 3+ in there as well as a 150W heater. Took 40L of water from my Trop88 (needed a water change anyway!) and put it in the bucket, then added the fish and some Melafix.
Woke up this morning to find the 2 Bala Sharks on the floor next to the bucket
They'd jumped out during the night.
The twig catfish is still alive, and already looks alot healthier.
That's the story of my failed rescue mission last night !!!!
