Hi
Have had a problem with my Bronze cory's, i will explain as best i can -

Had them 3 weeks, were in 70L (only occupants) 4 of them, Had slight nitrIte spike 2 weeks ago. Was doing frequent water changes to rectify.

One started to fade, from deep bronze to almost albino. I thought maybe they couldn't deal with the NitrIte (went to 0.5/0.7).

Transferred them to 60L tank with other cory's. Water - Amm = 0, nitrIte = 0, nitrAte 15, Ph = 7.2, temp 25.

The faded one continued to fade and became less & less active. Put him in a breeding net in the tank near the flow & bubbles but he died.

Now, two more Bronze are fading. The Panda's & Sterbai are all very healthy and active. The forth Bronze, which was the smallest of the four, is still coloured and active.

They are fed frozen blood worm, sinkers and will take flake.

Just to confirm, they are still in the 60L tank as i think any move back to theirs would be too much for them. They are with 4 sterbai & 3 Panda's & a male pk Betta.

There were no signs of external disease and the gills looked healthy.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

What sort of gravel do you have? Sand or round pea gravel is fine- They do not like sharp gravel-egg shell gravel etc. It wears the barbels away and they eventually become sick and die-it happened to me years ago.....just a thought

Hi
The substrate is 2-3mm Smooth gravel. The other cory's have been in there longer and are doing well.

Cheers

Well it isnt that then-i'd have to read up in my books and get back to you-maybe sumbody else might know summat- cant help you anymore at the mo.

Sadly spikes can take there toll on fish and corys are very sensitve.
Good luck.
Feed some garlic good for boosting the immune system, as when fish are stressed there immune system is weak.

Hi Wilder

When you say feed garlic, should it be finely chopped or another way?

Thanks

You sueeze the juices out of the garlic then soak there flakes in it.

Ok, thanks for that.

Think i have some in the kitchen somewhere.

Cheers
