Morning all,

One of my juvenile Denison Barbs has turned a much paler shade than all of the others, verging on white depending on the light. I've posted a number of pictures below and you can see the comparison with other Denisons in some of the photos (apologies for the reflection). It's my first time keeping Denison Barbs so I don't want to jump the gun on anything, but I can't find anything online which would seem to suggest this is normal.

Thanks.

I don't know about Denison Barbs but I have had some black neons that are definitely not black, not albino either, they are much lighter shade then the others. At first I was worried about them but just watched their behavior and color. That was about 18 months ago, and they are still fine, but not black.

If your Denison barb is not just developing its color I would just keep an eye on it. If it was darker but now lightening up I would watch it a bit more carefully for changes in its behavior such as clamped fins, flashing, hiding, etc which would indicate that there is something more wrong with the fish.

Given the other fish seem OK, I am assuming the water parameters are good, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to check them.
