Hi all,

Havent been on for a while so hello everyone.

Ive had a few fish losses over a few months and have ended up with 3 single gouramis they all lost their pair.

Anyhow, ive now got a relentless bully in the 3, and when i say relentless, i mean it! He wont let one of the other gouramis eat, relax, nothing. Its been going on a while now and its getting rediculous.

Ive got a spare tank, heater and filter. Do you think its a good idea to take half the water out of my tank and some filter media and take the bully fish out for a bit? Let me know asap please the other gourami is looking a bit worse for wear!

Yes I would remove him if he stressing the other fish to much as it weakens there immune system causing illness and desease.
Once a fish bully there not much you can do he will have to be issolated.
Could try returning him back to the tank after a week and see how it goes.

Will the bully fish be ok in the new tank beings its not been set up properly?

Use your main tank water and you could cut some mature filter sponge from your main tank filter to add to the spare tank filter.

with gouramis, if u have 3 males then u might have a reoccuring problem with bullying. they are territorial

I had this problem and one of mine killed the other two. eventualy i put him in a 6ft tank with dats and very very big fish,...even an arowana...he is still going..he swims around with not as much atitude as he had..but enough to survive lol..i would take him out they dont seem to give in once they are like that. I recently set up a spare tank using other tank water and a bit of mature filter..and did small water changes using the mature water and toped up the mature tank with new water (if that makes sence!!) This worked and the fish were fine and had no spikes or problems.

I also used a bit of sand from my mature tank on the bottom.]

hope this helps.
