Hi, Can anyone help me, I have just been cleaning my filter and part where the rigid outlet pipe meets the flexible one has just snapped.

Does anyone near by have something that would fit or can anyone give me some ideas so that i can keep my filter running.

Please help

Sorry I can´t help you with how to fix it, if the actual connection at the filter itself is broken it sound pretty unfixable. If you can´t keep the filter running, you should take the filter media and store it in a bucket of tank water. This will give the filter bacteria a greater chance of survival. If left in the filter without waterflow, they would use up all the oxygen and die. They need oxygen, so aeriate the water or stir it now and then if possible. Put the bucket in a cool place, so the bacteria metabolism will slow down and they will need less oxygen to survive.
Hope you got it fixed!

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I have done as you said with the media. Hopefully i will be able to get the filter up and running as very soon. I will be contacting tetratec in the morning as the filter is only 10 months old.

How long do you this the media will last kept like this?

Bad luck, I did the same thing on my ex700 a few months ago. I put the outlet pipe straight into the tank and held it with largest sucker clips that came with the filter.

I got the idea with the bucket from another forum. Someone kept it for 48 hours, and did not have any problems. Even if some of the bacteria die, to have mature media to start your new/repaired filter is always better than having none and having to start cycling from scratch. After restarting the filter, you should keep a close eye on your Ammonium and Nitrit reading. Best of luck!
