Look at this on eBay:

1000L/H + 9w UV Aquarium External Fish Tank Filter All Pond Solutions 1000EF+

http://bit.ly/RNP6Jy

Anyone got/tried or heard anything about these? Good price are u just paying for the name with fluval etc?

I have the same filter minus the UV, not a bad filter just dont expect the the flow to be any where near 1000L/H.

Mine is running on my 60L tank and does a decent job, what size tank are you looking to use this on?

Sorry to piggyback on this thread, but I was considering it for my 95 litre tank, but was thinking it would be too powerful.

So you have it on a 60 litre,
what would you say the flow is, more or less?
Does it create much current in your tank?
Is it noisy? Mine is buzzing quite loudly now and I wanted to get something witha bigger capacity anyway.

Ive got the 1400 on my 120litre tank which has been running for around a year and touch wood have had no problems with it. Flow rate isnt the best but is sufficient but build quality and ease of use coupled with price makes it a must for me. Even so that im currently running two Fluval 304 on my 5ft tank but am looking to swap them for either the All Pond Solutions filter or the Sun Sun filter (they are basically the same except the sun sun is cheaper still!! ) in the not to distant future as the fluvals are rubbish.

I have two of the better models, the 2000EFs, I run one as a supplement to my FX5 on the 5x2x2 and the other as a supplement to my Eheim 2078 on my Rio240. The real world turnover is truely shocking, if using spraybar modules the flow can be ~800lph, which is fine for all but things like male Betta in a 100l tank. Without spraybar modules (how I run both of mine), the flow increases to closer to the 1200lph ballpark.

The price is appealing (its why I bought them), but choose between the 1400 and 2000 models for a 50-250l tank, prefereably the latter and use all the 3 spraybar modules if you have fish stressed by current if needs be.

I got the 2000 for £65? It's going in my 175L bow front

Flow is deffentaly much less, but still more than enough for my 60l and creates a decent flow. Noise wise it is louder than my TetraTech filters but once I close the oak cabinet door that the filter is in I cant hear it at all.

The other added bonus is that I have found APS customer service to be very good, I had a problem with air bypassing the seal on the primer button which was causing air to collect inside the filter, I contacted APS and a replacement head was sent out the same day :good:

Is the FX5 a good filter ? Thinking of getting one for my 6x2x2 ft cichlid tank, was thinking about getting 2x 2000ef but reading this along with other review about its turn over it putting me off.

For flow and cannister volume for media, my FX5 stands out from my bunch of filters, its a shame they have shot up in price to ~£200 new but still worth it. My Eheim 2078 is not bad, what it lacks in raw power (~1150lph real turnover) is made up for in functions, even without the USB connector which opens up more functions via a PC. Two of the same model have capacity would be my choice for a 6x2x2.

I recently did a bit of window shopping at the APS site and I was intrigued by their pressure filter range, but I'm not sure how I would feel parting with almost £200 and risking a similar flow dropoff compared to the mrketing blurb.

The pro 3e is what I wanted but the price is high, but then again so is the price for the FX5, iv still got time to decide and plan.
Thanks
