External Filter!

Bought a 5ft Juwel tank and got a aquatic lac 828 external filter but cant seem to get it to work!! Just keeps rattlin when turned on, stupid question but in/out tubes does filter end go on the in part then the clean water go on out? Ive been tryin for last hour please help

does it have a primer. is it lower than the tank

Have you filled the canister? Tilted it to dislodge any air?

Is your tank full when you are trying to make the pump work? Some pumps that work partly by a siphon action will not work unless your tank is full. Good luck.

I really do apologize noob to this! Lucky aint got fish yet ha, the in tube should that be the filter end? Want to check ive got tubes right way first lol

You should have two pipes connected to the filter; and intake on the in side, and a spray bar or whatever on the out side.
 
It might help to disconnect the in pipe and fill that with water from a jug.

Right checked pipes, fitted to right connections the sucker 1 goes on in and clean water goes on out, I got filter with tank so no guide, how can I prime it? All medias in it, sponges etc but no water in canister? Should I put some in?

Yes, fill it three quarters full. Is there some kind of button on the top? That'll be your primer, but not all filters have them.
 
If it doesn't have  primer, then you'll have to pour water down the in pipe.

Filled caniister up, poured water down in pipe and still nothin its rsttlin like mad the filter

My bad does have a hand pump, just tryed pushin it and still nothin noise is still there and still not filterin

1 more question?? Should I empty the canister as its nearly full or leave it??
