Hi everyone after a bit of advice ive got a juwel rio 180 and im not happy with the filteration (standard internal) i was thinking about an external filter but not sure which one or whether to remove the internal one ( a bit worried about doing this) or whether to run 2 filters would this be a problem any advice would be welcome, thanks in advance

Hi,

I've got Juwel Vision 180's and felt the same after not too long, so went with Eheim 2026's which are great - however, there are lots of different ones out there so in the end it's personal choice, recommendations, pros/cons etc.

It is possible to run 2 filters alongside each other, and you may want to do this initially for a couple of weeks until the new filter has established, or you can put the sponges from the old into the new straight away and it's done.

I did remove my internal filters - there are posts on the forum on how to do this safely - it's pretty easy (done it twice now, lol).

:good:

I can highly reccomend the Eheim Classic range of external filters. Or if your looking to spend a little more money then i would take a look at the professional series.

I took the filter out of my vision 260 & use a Ehiem pro 2 2026.
Perfect clear water. Does'nt need cleaning much either.
Well worth doing. :good:
