External Filter Tubes

Now I know this probably seems a simple question to some, but I would like to make sure I am doing the right thing.

I am placing my external filter below the fish tank... what is the best position for the intake and outlet tubes ? As in, do I place the filter under the intake or under the outlet tube ?

It is a 4ft tank and wanted to make sure I got the correct placement.

having the filter closer to the outlet is best, it will give you the best flow rate as the impeller isn't fighting as much water resistance and gravity.

AH ok, so put the filter under the outlet and the inlet on the other side of the tank ? Makes sense now, thank you so much

Yes and keep the piping as short as possible
