I just purchased a 30 gal tank and was wondering if it's necessary to have a longer intake tube than a smaller one? I'm assuming that all the water in the tank will be sucked up no mater how long the tube is.

Thanks

It's generally best to have the intake reasonably close to the substrate because that is where all the tank detrius ends up. The closer the intake to the substrate, the more gunk gets filtered out, the cleaner your tank stays...

HTH!

Use clear plastic tubing from the hardware store! It's water safe, cheaper, & you can make it any length you want just by cutting. Get it so it fits a little too small, heat it over a candle, lighter, or stove to soften, stretch it on & hook up your filter. I keep a few feet of different sizes around just in case something comes up. It only costs 30 or 40 cents per foot.
