Extended Birthing?

My platy has just given birth to... ahem.... 1 fry. It was over the weekend when she took herself off to a quiet place for a few hours and got on with it. But she still looks huge and I'm sure she's got more to come. Is it possible for platies to stagger their birth or has is she just taking a while to get her shape back! (I know how she feels )

It is possible for her to be very slow with birthing. I can remember having a guppy giving birth to 60 guppies within a period of 4 days. Is the fry healthy? It may have been a premature little guy. I will tell you that gravid spots never go away, even if they're just had babies. They'll always have a black spot, though it might not be very dark. Give her a couple days.

Thanks chibi, the fry is healthy and still zipping about but mummy platy is still taking herself off to a quiet spot wher she initially gave birth but no more babies yet . She seems healthy and is eating etc. Guess she's just reliving the experience?!?!
