Hi,

I've just bought another tank (3 is OK isn't it!!). It is an 80l Orca, but is square, so has more height than a traditional rectangular tank.

Anyway, this one will be planned very carefully. Obviously it will be fishless cycled. It will have sand substrate and plenty of real plants.

Was wondering about this stocking, but wasn't sure about the compatability of more than one pair of rams + gouramis.

Fish will be added over a long period of time and when appropriate (plec not till tank is mature etc)

I want a nice mix that won't look too crowded and will make use of the tank space.

1 albino long finned bristlenosed plec
4-6 corys
1 pair blue rams
1 pair gold rams
2 pair dwarf gourami/blue dwarf gourami

Possible extras

Shrimp/snails
6 + ember tetras
Maybe a couple of peacock gobies

Any suggestions very welcome, as this is a long term project that I really want to get right the first time.

Catherine

what are the mesurments of your tank. because if your going to have 2 pairs of rams a bn and corys i think you will have some trobble. they wont have enough room to set up a terrotry. i think the 1 pair of rams and the corys would be about it

Just to say, if you have 2 other tanks that are mature and stocked, then you don't need to faff around with a fishless cycle.

You can simply either park your filter in the most heavily stocked of your other two tanks and leave it for a month to mature, or take some mature filter media from each of the filters in your other tanks and fill the new filter straight off. Instant clone and cycle, you could start stocking immediately.

If you go with the second method and cannot fill the new filter to capacity with mature media, then fill it as much as you're able, top off with brand new media and fishless cycle from there. It won't take half as long as if you'd started from scratch as you will already have a bacterial colony present .

is this the MT-50 or RA-05 orca?

you can in that tank get away with 1 pair of rams.

the pleco should be fine
the corydoras should be fine
a pair of rams might be okay, as rams and corys are bottom dwellers the rams may be a bit annoyed by that ^^

gouramis should be okay

RA-05 orca.

I have put some mature filter media in (about half) and had planned to do a shortened cycle.

So - 1 pair of rams, 4 corys, 2 pairs dwarf gouramis, bn plec, small shoal of small tetras.

Does that sound OK, or do you have any other fish that you think would look better?
