As some of you might remember, we thought one of my platies were pregnant so modaz gave me much advice but it turned out not to have babies. From then on i still have never reared a platy, i was so excited the first time that i bought baby food. 2 days ago, i saw one of my pregnant orange platys. She was VERY VERY fat. I figured she would have babies soon. I did what modaz originally told me. I put the platy in a large breeder box and put a floating plant. Nothing happened that day or the next. Last night i came home at 11 pm and i peered into the box (i put a garbage bag over the side of the tank where the breeder box is) and i saw 10 babies!!!! i was so happy but then i was a little pissed. it looked like she was done having babies. I couldnt understand because she was HUGE before. since i never reared i thought maybe that how many she suppose to have being so huge. So i left her in for the night. I woke up this morning and i peeled garbage bag to see bottom of box. There were babies scattered. I was so happy. Then i took teh garbage bag fully off. There was a large group of babies at the top of the water in corner!!! AND there were babies in the floating plant. I took the momma out and counted. 46 HEALTHY babies. 48 total, but 2 of them were conjoined together by the stomachs and couldnt swim from it (i was sad when i noticed they were both alive and couldnt swim when they tried. So now i have a busy breeder box!!! Its going to be hard to convince my dad to get a 10 gallon tank to raise them till selling size because we dont have any room and my dad hates fish because of the water and he dont want another tank cause then he has to buy filter and heater... PICS ARE COMING UP SOON!!!

Is it ok if i dont feed the fry for the first day or two?

Even if you try to feed the fry, they may not eat for the first two days. It's nothing to worry about. I'd toss in a bit of crushed flakes in case anyone does want to eat though.

I have the first bites food which im getting back from my friend tommorow.

She's still alive...and fat. I dont know what wrong with her, maybe she eats a lot or maybe is in middle of preganancy. Perhaps she's a balloon platy.

I got pics!!!! But i also learned my bros camera had video so i also have vid!!!!!! (i will post vid later)

aw they are so cute, glad to here the other female is still going, maybe she's just a little greedy like one of my female gupps. wow you have conjoined fry? how they doing?

the rest look nice and healthy not heard of any cases were conjoined survive so don't be too suprised if they pass soon. all your other fish look great love the swords

two questions.

1. How long will it take for the platies to get one inch?

2. Where can i sell the platies once they get to one inch?

Theotheragentm- My betta is a very kind betta. I have many fish with long fins and I even have a golden killifish which IMO looks just like a female betta...he wont attack those fish, he wont attack any fish.
