a few weeks ago all of my fry got out......9 of them died  So i caught the remaining 21 and pu them back in the contraption. They kept on jumping out and i always had to catch them. They stopped for a while. Now theyre only just 2 weeks old and theyve started jumping out agen. Wat must i do. They keep on jumping out and their parents chase them when they get in their way. so im scared that they will get eaten. does anyone have a pic of a molly fry thats 2 weeks old so i can see if mine are smaller or bigger then usual?

It is very odd for fry to jump out of a breeding net or trap. You may have too much water in the trap or the net may be too low in the water so they basically swim out of their home. Try raising the net if thats what you have or if you have a breeding trap then remove some of the water. HTH

how high are the edges of your breeding trap from the surface of the water? Perhaps you have a fish that is ramming the trap and scaring them out. :dunno:

ALASKA

I've never had that happen and I've raised tons of fry...

the hight of the breeding trap is much more above the water level in the tank but the water level is a inch and a half from the top of the tank

Is the water clean in the trap?

Also I hate those damn traps as mothers are known to jump out too! I have a small bit of clear plastic that I elastic band to the top of the trap during births.

My trap does have slits tho that allow the fry to leave the trap and join the other fry in the fry tank. But obviously its very important mother does not jump out the trap.
