Hi. I'm new to fish and these forums, so please bare with me. I've had my tank set up for a good 4 months or so now and everything has gone swimmingly, up until last night. I noticed one of my lady guppies rubbing herself over the gravel and since then one by one all my other fish have been rubbing and flicking themselves over anything and everything, it looks like they are break dancing. I can't see anything noticable on them and I've done a partial water change, but they are still grooving away. I am quite worried and not sure what it is, so I really need help as I don't know if they have a disease or not. Could it be Ich? If so what can I do to help them? My fish and I would appreciate any help you can offer me, thanks for reading my post.

Hi and :hi: to the forum

Right the first thing you will need to tell us is what you Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate reedings are.

Other answers that might prove useful are:

Have you introduced any new fish?
Have you introduced any new equipment?
Have used de-clorinator?

The key to treating strange behaviour is to first identify the problem and ich normally is accompanied by white spots so if you don't have them chances are its going to be a water quality problem.

Sounds very much like ich to me. If you've done anything different to the tank of late (such as a different dechlor, new fish, new plants etc) that could be a cause.
Although you say there are no signs of white spots doesn't mean it isn't ich. They may not be showing yet is all. I often find it's best to do a course of treatment with Protozin early rather then wait and risk the loss of a fish. Especially if you have catfish, which can be very prone to whitespot and is more likely to spread faster and be fatal to them.
Please do supply all the things breezer has ask for. They are always helpful, even if only to eliminate them as suspects.
Hugs,
P.

I did a water test and that was ok, I went out and bought some anti parasite and white spot stuff, so fingers crossed this will sort their antics out. I'd like to thank you for your help, I'm sure my fish will be glad to get back to normal :D

If all you have are guppies then salt is the better option.
