It’s probably too late to save my panda oranda from dropsy. But can anyone help me with the dosage. He’s in a 90 litre hospital tank. I thinks that 24 US gallons.

For every gallon of water, use 1 teaspoon of epsom salt. I really do think you should start to do salt baths, in a 1 gal. Bowl. :)

Gosh I read half a teaspoon for 23 US gallons, that’s a massive difference. This is why I am confused. I don’t want to do it.

1 tsp per gallon is correct. However, you only want to do dips or baths. Place fish in 1 gallon of dechlorinated water with one teaspoon of Epsom salt for no more than 3 minutes for dropsy. You can do this 3 times a day. The Epsom salt will help pull fluid off. For severe dropsy you will need antibiotics. A combination of Kanaplex and Furan-2 according to package directions for no more than 7 days. Dropsy is difficult to treat. Good luck! Keep us posted.

Hi. I’m looking at the dose for baths. I want the rate for keeping the salts in the tank. He’s too stressed for baths. He is also on antibiotics. I read today 1 teaspoon per 19 gallons??

Sorry I mean I’m NOT looking at bath dosage rates :)

I don't leave Epsom salt in the tank because I only want to treat the ill fish. However, in looking through my notes, I see that 1/8 tsp per 5 gallons is recommended for dropsy if treating the tank. I have never done this though so perhaps someone else can offer more advice on it. You will see different dosage suggestions from different people. The problem is that there has never been an actual effective dose decided. I hope all goes well. Best of luck!
