Hi

We got a Flying Fox on Saturday - he is beautiful and a real character. The only problem is he doesn't seem to want to eat???

He is in our Q tank (60L with a fluval 205 canister filter, lighting, air stone) Nitrite spiked when he went in, he is in there with 8 White Cloud Mountain Minnows. I have been keeping the stats under control with water changes.

Why won't he eat? I even tried garlic tonight - the Minnow went mad for it. He buzzed around looking but not eating.

He has no obvious problems, no Ich, no raised scales, no redness, gills are healthy looking, he is quite active..... I am at a loss!

Any suggestions?

What else have you tried feeding it ? It should go for algae wafers, catfish pellets or cucumber etc .

Tried flake, pellets, algae wafers, sinking granules, spinach soaked in garlic, blood worm, daphnia, brine shrimp. The Cloud Minnows have had a menu feast over the last few days! He is not interested. I put some cucumber in today - didn't like that either! When should I worry about him not eating?
