I don't seem to see much information posted about Endlers.........(obviously I have googled it.. )......but just wondered if anyone here has kept them?

Are they easy to breed?

Are they easy to get hold of?

Thanks.......

I have had about 4, and they all died with in a month.

I only know one place round near me that get them.

I would think they would be easy to breed, but they WILL cross with guppies.

I am buying them for a well known breeder. So we are in the same suituation

There are almost always some available on aquabid.com. I'm not sure about their availability in the UK though??
They breed very easily, and WILL cross with guppies if they are kept together, so obviously you will want to keep them seperated if you don't want hybrids.
You're right, there isn't a whole lot of info out there about them.
Here are some links in case you haven't found them yet:

Thanks all.........

Livebearer-wise I have Mollys and Platys (plural sp?), but just liked the look and colour of the Endlers.......

...also not many people seem to have them so it would be quite interesting...... :)

Thanks for the resources.....

....I had never really considered purchasing fish by post before........I would be concerned about the box sitting at the post office for a couple of days......

I have a ton of endlers. They are easily one of my favorite fish.

They are super hardy and very easy breeding. I have good luck with every signle batch of fry I've ever raised. The drops are small (when compared to guppies and the like), but I usually get a 100% survival rate from the fry. The fish can tolerate a wide pH range and suprisingly are able to cope with major temperature swings when a heater goes beserk !

I have some available for people in the states looking. I have several different strains available, including a newly wild crossed strain which is throwing some awesome colorations in the offspring.

Anyone got any outlets in the UK?

I fancy a livebearer tank...... :D

EDIT:

....acutally, just phoned my lfs..........they have at least one pair...... :D

I finish work at between 17:30 and 18:00............ :D

.......they shut at 17:45........... :(

......they are 8 minutes motorcycle ride away..... :D

.....it takes me 7 mins to get all my motorcycle gear on..... :(

......think I may have to try to get out early on the busiest night of the week.....

Well watch what you buy i have quite often seen endlers that are in a tank with fancy guppies ........... so easily cross bred

That was what I was worried about...........it is a bit coincidental that the first (and most local) fs has some in.

But they do tend to get some specials in from time to time, so I will have a good check.

Time is what I do have.............. :) :)

(Oh, apart from tonight, where I didn't leave work in time to get to the shop...  ).

If you keep endlers in a species tank, you'll find that most of your fry survive. Endlers themselves are too small to eat their fry, and never show any interest in that.
