I just got my first three endlers ever at one of my LFS the other day at $2.99 a pop as I had never actually seen any in there before. Then a day later, I was in a different LFS and saw a tank of small feeder guppies that looked EXACTLY like my endlers at 10 for a dollar. Are they really sold as endlers? or can I bank on them being some kind of endler/ guppy mix? I know they have to at least be part endler as there is no mistaking it but I just want to see if anyone has input as I won't be buying endler for $2.99 a piece anymore if they're so much as only "probably" endlers according to everyone here! haha

i found an endler in a group of feeder goldfish. i still have her and at firt i thought she was a female guppie but it turns out i was wrong

These are useually hybrids, about half end;ler half fancy guppy, if you get them do not breed them with purer endlers.

Feeder Guppies are Guppies in their wilder form. They aren't inbred for the fancy schmancy coloring and finnage. Wild Guppies look VERY similar to Endlers, so that may be where you are getting confused.

Endler

Wild Guppy

Not much difference, eh?

Are you sure that's right Annastasia ? Your link for a wild guppy (if you look on the full web page and page right down) - is actually for an endler ???? Though to be fair, there is so much inbreeding going on these days, that it's easy to get confused - especially if endler isn't a true endler in first place (to compare to).

I would say my understanding of a wild guppy is more like this one:

Hmm, strange. Google said it was a Wild Guppy, I should have checked. Anyway, here's another link to true Wild Guppies on Aquabid: http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/auc...ersw&1145661006

The one you posted is another Wild Guppy. They both look very similar to some strains of Endler, and it's easy to get confused. The fish SFH saw may have been hybridised, but most likely they are just wilder looking Guppies. Who even knows if Endlers are a seperate species or not. :dunno:

i agree with anna on this. i always wondered the same about the lfs near where i go to college. they sell them too but as feeder guppies. also i have learned (if i'm not mistaken) that tank bred pure endler strains lose color after so many breedings and look bland. this could be what is sometimes sold as feeder guppies. who knows what they are. but either way you could get them and keep them in a seperate tank from your endlers just to make sure that you don't mix a possible hybrid with your possible pure strains.
