I went in my local Big Als on Kennedy in Scarborough intending to buy a couple more guppies when I saw that they had endlers. Way cool! I've been looking for these guys for about a year now and have never seen them in my area so I thought I'd mention it here in case anybody else on TFF in the GTA is interested in getting some.
They're 4 for $10.
btw: before anybody harasses me for mixing guppies & endlers in my tank, they're all boys.

I have never really understood why people freak out about mixing endlers and guppies. Its NOT an endangered species really. Yes they don't exist in the wild but they are amazingly common in the hobby. No one freaks out about other possible hybrids like platies and swordtails!

Oh and I really wish there were Big Als in the US. Seems like a pretty cool store. Although maybe its the Canadian equivalent of Petco and Petsmart. :/

ack! no! not at all! there's a petsmart up the street from my local big als and I don't even go in there unless there's no other choice. & I'm in a hurry. & I know exactly what I need. & I can't get to big als.

Petsmart is a Pet Store - with all that implies. Big Als is a specialty fish store and most of the staff there are pretty good. I've found the managers in particular know their stuff and are really helpful. wouldn't go anywhere else.

Yes, why do people freak out at the thought of mixing the two???

As long as they don't leave your home I would think it's ok. I think people are concerned about the hybridization because the pure endler strain is so beautiful. I went to this LFS in San Francisco last weekend that I had never before been to and they had lots of guppies but they had this one tank dedicated solely to endlers. They were amazing... their colors were so bright and neony. The guy at the store wanted $18 for a pair. Not sure if that's a good price but it was out of my range...they were absolutly stunning though  unlike any I've seen ever before in pictures online and in books.

Hey everyone!
Not sure I've ever even seen an Endler...anyone have a pic to share? Meantime I'll do some online researching. They sound absolutely beautiful, though.

Here's an Endler:

They all have a difference in coloration, and some are much brighter then that. They also have fancier tail types like lyre-tail.

Here's a quick search on Google to get you started on your researching!

Hey Annastasia!
Thank you for the speedy reply...I hadn't had a chance to google it yet, thanks for sending the search page.
Wow...they look quite nice. I'll have to see if I can find any around the Ottawa area. :)
I've been going back and forth through all the topics and I guess it'll take me a little while to get used to the confusion of forums..lol I have no doubt that I'll get there.
Thanks again for the pic and the info!
