when i finish my fishless cycle i will want to move some fish i alreadt have into that tank. after that i want to gradually add fish, a few every week

say i have bacteria enough for 50 fish and i add 10 that i already have, and want to add 5 more each week. how to i stop all the bacteria from dying off until the tank has reached its 50 fish limit as it were

When we do our fishless cycles, the 5 ppm of ammonia that we add usually is enough ammonia to build up enough beneficial bacteria to support a fully stocked tank of a given size.

There really is no need to add a couple fish once a week, instead, you should be able to add your full stocking limit, or really close to it after the fishless cycle is completed.

There really is no way to control the bacteria we have, other than to add more ammonia/fish to have the bacteria colonize more.

If you have enough bacteria for 50 fish and only put 10 in there, you are going to have some bacteria die off a little, just because there will not be enough ammonia produced by just 10 fish to support a fully established bacterial colony.

I would add close to your stocking limit all at one time. :good:
