Empy 2.5

if you have larger tanks you could build another filter with it

by putting a divider and a pump (and ofcorse some sort of filtering mesh_)

if your interested them ill give you more info about how to do it

i use it on my 80 gallon oscar tank

bc one filter wasnt enough for my messy oscars

Fill it with beer and drink out of it

Now that's a beer stein! That would be a great idea for a aquarist themed party. Serve drinks in fish bowls or fashion the 1 gallon hexs with handles to serve as large steins. Thank goodness Spring break is over, I really need to get back to being busy.

Ok please tell me how to do it and how much it might cost.

Thanks

Austin

well its not really costly but it really depends on where you live and how you do it

you have to make a tank divider

but leave a space on the bottom so it divides only the top half of the tank

fill half of the tank with filter wool and the other side a pump

the pump has to lead to the mother aquarium and you have to get a pipe (or hose) that will poor the water from the tank into the smaller tank

if the smaller aquarium is lower than the bigger one then you could take the hose(brining water from the mothertank) and suck alittle water creating a poring effect(bc of gravity and pull )

that water that poors from the maintank will lead to the mesh half of the aquarium and then pass though the space at the bottom of the divider

then get sucked buy the pump creating a filter

if you dont undersand anything feel free to ask any questions

it works just like a sump

you will need a water level cut off tho, if you pump breaks/power cut you got one hell of a mess! you should be able to pick one up at any DIY store tho, or you can make one yourself :) like i did.

Ok what type of pump are you talking about and what is a water level cut off, sorry I don't have a clue how sumps work specifically except that they suck water into a separate tank filter it out then put it back in the main tank.

About the beer I still have 4 years before I can drink beer and 7 to drink any so that won't work.

I plan on having the tank under my main tank in the cabinet if that helps. So I won't have to drill the tank at all and will a divider with holes in it be ok even if it covers the whole tank?

Thanks

Austin

I recommend you don't add filters or heaters. Hot flat beer would be horrible.

As for this 2.5, either a betta, or some cherry shrimp.

I'm going to watch this thread closely, if it is well detailed I may even convert my 2.5 into a sump, or maybe a snailarium but I doubt it. I'd use as a fry tank but I need a heater.
