Fish Herder
Was doing some gardening the other day and whilst moving a pile of old slabs came across a load of empty snail shells, some broken, some not. I was struck how good they looked all piled together, and wondered whether they would work in my tank.
I then set about collecting all the snail shells (empty and full) that I could find. Then came cooking the snails to remove them from their shells and washing the snails, then soaked in ammonia for a day. Think all the odd bits have gone and seeing as some people fishless cycle with prawns I figure a little detritus wouldn't be too detrimental to my currently cycling tank.
The only problem I can forsee is that the shells will roll about a bit so was considering a dollop of marine silicone in each shell.
Was planning on sticking them in a pile, as thought they would probably look quite good, as clean snail shells with light shining through them look quite cool, if any fry want to use them or any stressed Malawi's want to chuck them about then thats fine.
Any comments, anything I haven't thought of?
