EMERGENCY!

Ok, if u read my spawn journal u know that i aborted the spawn because the daddy got real exhausted from patrolleing the tank. i removed him and put him back into his bowl with his normal water and stuff. i got him to eat a couple betta bites last night an dthis morning he had a couple more and a blood worm. it 3:25 and i got him to eat a couple more pellets. i think hes good on food but thats not the prob. he is going to the bottom of the bowl and then he'll curve with his tail in the air and nose to the ground, fins flared. his gills are going pretty fast and when he comes up for water he stays there for a couple minuts before heading back to the bottom. hes lost a lot of color and wont eat. im not worryed about that because he's probably just full. i put in stress coat which does seem to be helping a little but i am super worryed, iv done everything but roll into a fedal postion and cry. i love my fish and i really ont wanna lose him, i hope stress is all thats wrong with him. his water has salt, conditioner, and stress med. its in a 1g bowl. if anyone has any ideas what i should do nekt please let me know

It's probably due to taking him away from the spawn, hope he gets well soon.

no, there was no spawn, the female never left the container, i aborted the project because he looked rely bad. he looking a lil better now but hes not outa the woods yet, hes still a bit ill

What are the test results in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate, and ph, can you use a little airstone on his bowl.

yes, i should add an airstone but i dont wanna create a current and make it hard for him to drift. the water in there is the same water he is always in with the same meds. im going to do a change tonight. i do not have a test kit and as i said before he wasn't looking bad until he was in the spawn tank for 24 hours. im hopeing its juts from flareing his balls off all night at the female but im keeping a very close eye on him

At least yours didn't end the way mine did. The female bit onto the male's tail and wouldn't let go until I put my hand in to stop her. Then she did it again... and again...

I assume that you moved him to a bowl with the same water as the spawn tank, so that probably isn't what the problem is.

My guess is that he misses the female.

my little female is doing that...except her fins aren't flared and she's eating...but she sticks her nose in the bottom and pants...only comes up for air or if i put a mirror by the tank....dunno what's wrong...sry man...maybe he's sad

Did you cycle the spawn tank befor you put him in? just a thought.

hes ok i think now guys, he's got his color back and is eating well.....to well thanx for all the help, and happy thanksgiving!

Scrub the spawn tank really,really well before you try another spawn.

why would i want to scrub it? i dont think he caught any kind of illness or anything, juts got really stressed out and exhausted from patrolleing a whole 20g tank im gunna do water changes thogh and iv lowered the water lvl and divided the tank.
