for future reference for anyone faffing around with a fluval 304. when topping up with the lid on pour the water through the hole on the right hand side. i was putting it in the left.

when filling from the right it doesn't leak at all... Yippee

i also greased the seal as gf225 suggested. after a lot of pumping (the pipes were clogged as well ) ) i got a big burp from the outlet, a few pints of thick brown sludge burst into the tank.

this morning i had a crystal clear tank and no wet feet.

thank you so much everyone for all your help. all sorted now.

yeah i'm rather happy to say the least. without TFF i'd be rather stuck.

smithrc. i'll send you a goody bag when the co2 gets sorted, my plants are a bit poorly right now but just picked up my new profi 2 kit (complete replacement by LFS) so we should be back on track in a week or so. pm me your address again and i'll put a little pressie together.

no worries i'll send some medium light stems. if they look nice for a month and die so be it. i'll be doing a heavy prune soon so will be binning lots anyway.

george, you can have the rest. no problem mate. narrow leaf ludwigia is definatly one i can send you i have a small forrest forming as we speak if a little green (lowered the light as no co2 in there at present)

i may loose an established sword (bhleri) smithrc, your welcome to it but i assume your using plain gravel now?? if so it wont do well and i'll send it to george just let me know. it's been used to co2 and laterite without it i expect it'll wilt and wither away.

snad - root tabs only for the swords... I'm adding some ferts and still have the denerle lighting - (basically I've removed the co2 system and stopped EI)

ok mate you can have the sword then plus a few odd stems to play with. gf225's tank is a bit shallow for the sword anyway it's poke out of the water from day 1. i'm sure you can find a place for it. it'll do okay with root tabs and the odd splash of fert.

okay mate will do. it would look a little out of place in your current setup but by all means pm me in the future if your changing things i am forever in dept for all your help setting me up at the start.
