i only have flaked food do they eat that?
should i carry on looking

Do you have a breeding trap? If so, put the female in it. Give her as little stress as possible!

If you don't have a trap, do you have any sort of smaller appropriate container you can put her in temporarily? (Keep it floating in the tank so the temperature remains adequate) Put some feathery plants (plastic is fine) on the bottom so the fry are able to hide among them and stay safe from the mother. Soon as the mother's done, put her back in the main tank and keep the babies in the smaller container until they get a bit bigger.

They can eat flake food crumbled up very small. Until they are bigger they won't nibble on bigger pieces very much, it pretty much needs to be small enough to fit in their mouths easily in the first place. Don't give them very much! You'll pollute their enclosure to the point of toxicity quickly if you over feed.

What kind of fish is it? Platy, guppy, sword tail, or molly I'm guessing?

its a mixture of a platy and a guppy i found 3 my dad gone to get a breeding net would that be ok

could you get your dad to bung out on lots of java moss. its a plant that grows qiuckly in like thickets and the fry can hide in this, and are quick to take advantage
