hi i posted this earlier "fish nub here, had a danio die on me, looks like an infection as anus seem large and red.

also my female fighting fish seem very lathargic and are not eating, they just float around at the top and occasionly move.

tested water and all 0

did some regular water changes recently like 1 every other day or so as they didnt seem to livley.

what could this be and what can i do? "

Well my fighting fish now seem to have floatation issues, they are just floating around unable to swim but alive, im kinda expecting them to die now as one ended up in the flow of the filter and wasnt swiming just floaing around.

This does not sound to good.

What has changed in the tank? any new fish... any new meds... anything?

Keep up your water changes, and make sure you test alot! To make sure its all OK! Id get straight too your LFS and get some meds. also do you have a spare tank you can setup as a hospital tank, so you can keep the ill fish separate.

I hope this all works out mate :( keep us posted.

I do have a hospital tank, which is setup. All my 3 fish are like this =[ kinda floating with no will to swim just sit at the surcae and survive, i have some finrot meds and white spot meds, but not sure what meds i should use or get?

yea it is just thoose three fighting fish in the tank, they all have the same symptoms, they just will not swim and just kinda float, but they seem to move there little fins by there gills, and one of them kinda twiches the tail. they also (being fighting fish) are stull gulping air from the surface. Ive moved them all to the hospital tank as could it be the water in the old tank? and moved them into a little cube with holes in so that they get the water filtered but dont get knocked into the filters flow and end up floating around the tnk.

Yeah good idea to move them out into softer flowing water & fresh water :good:

I really really hope these guys are ok. but it doesent sound good :( but fish are full of surprises  i have had gonners come back from the dead before :)

Do you have any aquarium salts. could dose a little bit?

no aquirium salts =[ regular table do?

I have never used Regular table salt in any Aquarium, But having said that its quite widely used i think :)

"Common table salt is suitable, however it should be non-iodized and contain no additives. Rock or Kosher salt are excellent choices, as they are straight sodium chloride with nothing else added"

Just got that from Here

You have to be careful mate not to go crazy on the salt :)

sure, on the plus side they seem to be purking up, and actualy moving their bodies a little now =]

Good man :) do you have any pics of them... maybe someone else can help with the ID on the issue.

I hope this all works out :) i hate loosing a fish :(

I hope to hear good news in the morning mate. Good thinking there Ronan, Never thought of Ammonia. Listen too this guy hehe :good:

Ill be hoping for you mate.

Well Just before going to bed i re ran the ammonia test as per Ronananator's advice. Came up positive for high ammonia, looks like thats what did it. All three are swimming and playing happily now in my hospital tank. Tested the water in main a min ago and shows reduced ammonia but still to high. Im thinking maybe some of the bacteria died of or the ammonia spiked so quickly.

Also on a side note i seem to remember reading that alot of this bacteria is contained in the gravel/sand of the tank? does this mean excess gravel/sand "hovering" is bad?

Are you using an API Master test kit? The strip kits are not accurate enough to do any good.

You can hardly vacuum enough bacteria out of the gravel to do harm because there's so much there. About the only way to get it all out would be to remove and wash it outside the tank.

Hope they all make it!
