wake up this morning at 7.30 to feed the fish. I went turned on the light and say red gasy die floating around. Soon i noticed it was the thermometer. It was cracked. The mercury ( the red stuff ) was broken. I have two in there the other was reading 26degress celcius. I dont know how this thing broke. But my concern is are my fish going to die. I did a 50% water change i have checked the water parameters everything so far is okay. i need help

Not sure what the red stuff is ...
BUT
When my son was 3,he chewed up a thermometer from my tank..he thought the little silver balls in the bottom (weights) were candy...

ANYWAY-
Dr's said it was nothing to cause concern as it was not toxic.

I would think the same holds true for the fish, but would do a few more water changes just to be sure.

If it's red it'S not mercury, it's some kind of alcohol

Try to do lots of water changes.

They are a lot less toxic than mercury. If it was mercury, your fish would already be dead.
