When i first got the plant it grew like crazy, i read its best to cut them before they reach the top, so i did, but when ever i do this, the plant seems to die and new ones grow on the side of the dieing plant at a much slower rate, atm i'd say i have 10-15 browning plants, with about 6 greens ones. I thought it would be straight forward slice and place. My thought now isnt with the the previous ones, as i figure im best to just chuck em which sucks balls, its how to correctly cut and replant the plant. Also, uprooting the plant, is it a good idea or not? cause the perpetual scenario of having to uproot the plant and cut them seems to have the same bi product - dead plant ><. Should i cut the plant in the water?

I never remove my plants to trim them, most aquatic plants will float if uprooted so I keep mine in the substrate and trim them. Once I've done that the trimmed parts will float to the top where you can remove them or do as I do and replant the trimmings. Uprooting them will just cause probs as once they've rooted well every time you uproot one your sure to snap a load of the roots esp the finer ones, if I uprooted everything I trim every week my water would look cloudy and my tank would never look the same lol. How many plants are you uprooting and how often?

Hey, cheers for the reply. just guessing, but every 2 weeks or so. i'd uproot the plant, then give em a chop.
How many? erm not sure really, just the ones that are reaching the surface id cut in half then replant them. i have noticed after uprooting them my tank did seem more cloudy. didnt think it'd make that would be the cause of it. Cheers for that :good:

eloda densa dosent have roots that grow into the substrate its just white roots growing above the substrate i just cut mine in half every so often and put lead weight on it and set it back in no problems do all other plants grow fine, Cause eloda densa is such a hardy and undermanding plant.
