I have a medium sized tank with approximately 15 guppies and a few Albino Corries & neon's in and I am having problems with the guppies easting my Elodea Densa that I have planted.
The plants come mature and are placed straight into the tank (after washing etc) and immediately the guppies set about tearing them to shreds and eating them. I have no idea why.
Could anybody advise why the guppies are so fond of them and is there anyway of stopping them being eaten? The guppies are well fed so I don't think it can be a food source but I put some new plants in around 10 minutes ago and the tank now looks like feeding time at the zoo.
I am breeding the guppies quite well and these plants are ideal hiding places for the young so I am loath to change a winning combination. If anyone can advise on the above - or offer an alternate plant the guppies won't eat - I would really be very grateful.
Many thanks all - Andy
