Buying a kit is probably the easiest way to start fishkeeping as a hobby.I am no expert but i would like to give 1 piece of advice. If your kit has a Stingray filter do not buy any fish smaller than 4cm or they could get caught behind it due to its horrendous design.I lost 2 danios,2 tetras and guppy.Currently running an Aquaball with it and all my fish are now too big to get stuck.Another 3 weeks and i will be able to take the fish killer out.

Can you not get the media from the Stingray (never had one, but I do think they're quite horrible) into the other filter? You could take it out right away then.

Sponges are totally different.2 filters tucked away in the corner.I would advise anyone against getting a Stingray filter if keeping small fish.Dont get me wrong, they do work well, water crystal clear and all tests fine, its just that they are deathtraps for minnows.

Cut them up?

Could do but plenty room so no need.Thank you, again, for your input. You help a lot of people on here.

You're welcome :)
