Eliminating Small Debris

The water in my tank is clear; but, you can see small white particles floating around - like dust. My filter is not removing these particles. Anything I can do?

Are they near the top of the tank only? Could be air bubbles then.

Could be bugs, get a closer look at them if you can.

What kind of filter do you have in the tank? What type of media does it have?

if you have fairly open weave filter pads they might not be catching the smaller stuff, one of my tanks is like that, its not really much of a problem. Could also be air bubbles or dust?
