hi can somebody tell me about the electric yellow in thes catargories.

scientific name:

common name:

interesting facts:

description:

where it lives:

what it eats in the wild:

scientific name: Labidochromis caeruleus

common name: Yellow labs/Electric Yellows

interesting facts:

description: Probably the least aggressive of all the Mbuna species. Best kept in groups with a high female to male ratio. Good starter fish for anyone interested in keeping African Cichlids. Will grow to around 5"

where it lives: Lake Malawi, Africa

what it eats in the wild: Omnivore, will do well on a spirinula based flake as the main diet and will appreciate Brine shrimp

More detailed info HERE

I would say an interesting fact is that the original wild fish called l. caeruleus is not yellow but a light blue color. Or perhaps the fact that the female carries the eggs in her mouth until they hatch and then holds the fry in there as well until they are large enough to be spat out. She also doesn't eat for about a month while she's doing this.

food: They are considered insectivores in the wild.

Diet: Yup, they eat any small crustaceans they can get their mouths on, using their laterally compressed bodies to reach into cracks and such in the rocks. They live a little deeper then typical mbuna where algae is less prone to grow.

There is a profile on these guys in the profiles section.
