Electric Co2 Generator

Crap and more crap, you could try it but the biggest problem with these is that the CO2 is produced and just rises to the surface, which doesn't give it time to dissolve into the tank water. To get anywhere near 30ppm you'd probably have to have it much higher than is says and that's be like a jacuzzi!

If however you want to give it a try please let us know how well it works, Ive never actually met someone who's used one.

There are much better options available, for less money you could get a nutrafin yeast kit, which is tried and tested and works very well.

I already have a nutrafin kit, i was just wondering if anyone had tried these. If it does run for as long as it says then it'd make it quite cheap overall. I'm sure you could do a bit of DIY to get the bubbles into a ladder or something so that it dissolves better

Yeh guess you could try a DIY ladder thing :) The only thing I would say is that I have read claims before regarding how long systems will last before they need a refill. These are often very under estimated, as we in the UK have yet to realise just how much CO2 is needed. They have probably worked that out based on a few bubbles per minute which is no where near what is needed in reality.

I did a search for a similar electric CO2 generator and it says they generate very fine bubbles which dissolve before reaching the top (they describe it as a smoke effect).
Someone who posted said that 1 block lasted 6 months in a 90g tank.
These do remove calcium from the tank though, which cant be good for snails , plus you have to hide the huge block in the water. Too bad, otherwise i might have got one to try out
