Ok, I read you can keep Electric Blues with other Lake Mawali cichlids if you have the right size aquarium.
How big would the aquarium have to be?

Do you mean the Melanochromis Johanni ?
If so I have a topic right here for them.

usually anything 30 and up works ok.
Perferably 50 gallons for a Mbuna Cichlid tank, or if you just wanted to do Melanochromis Johannis, you could have 1 male and 3 females in a 30Gallon

Ah, I'm mistaken.
I once heard they needed 100G, but I highly doubt thats true. You can prolly keep them in a 75G, just to be safe.

Hard to say. The Blues'll get bigger, and more agressive. You'd want an older Lab to start out with, not with a baby like mine. You'd want to give him a head start.

Well, I've heard peacocks shouldn't be held with Mbuna cichlids, so if you plan on going with a few peacocks, dont plan on being able to upgrade them to a bigger tank with more african cichlids. Or Mbuna atleast.

These 'electric blues' (Ahli / Fryeri) should get at least a 55 gallon tank (for a trio or so), and the depth of the 75 is better.

This is a Hap that can be aggressive, but will generally ignore fish that don't look like it. Yellow Labs are excellent tankmates and some Peacocks will work too. With enough space in the tank certain other Haplichromines, like Protomelas, will fit in.

Lab. Caeruleus (yellow labs) do work well with these guys. Many types of Aulonocara (peacock) will fit, as well as some other types of Haps, like Protomelas, if the tank is big enough.

Oh, dont' worry, the tank will be atleast a 90 gallon. It will be up to a 125 gallon at the most.

disagree. if a tank is big enough to provide for enough rockwork and enough open swimming space,

feeding? no problem, each wil eat what he likes best, just provide for all,
(for example; same scenario as when you provide sinking tablets for bottomfeeders in any other type of tank-setup)

aggression? none between haps & mbuna

This is how it is in my experience anyway

Mbuna like food just as much if it's bad for them. Feed them blood worms, they'll gorge untill they keel over.

Dutoits, how big is your tank and what have you got in it? How long has it been set up?
