I have a four foot tank with Lake Malawi cichlids in it, I also have brush algae, I bought the above as it deals with brush algae. What concerns me is that on the side it says harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects. Has any one used this product, and was it successful?

No algaecide is safe for aquatic life. The only safe and effective way to control algae is by balancing the light and nutrients. This is more crucial in a tank with live plants. As live plants are not mentioned here, I would tend to leave the algae alone. It is natural in the rift lakes, and many species of Mbuna feed on algae.

The only thing you can do in this instance is reduce your photoperiod. I wouldn't use algaecides for controlling algae personally.
