The media for my new filter arrived today..

The instruction booklet said to rinse the subtrate under the tap before putting it in the filter.. (the first time). Would this affect an up and running aquarium at all? or.. should i be doing a small water change and rinsing it in there.. ( i know to do this for maintenace.. so dont go there ;-) )

TBH im probably just being silly and paranoid... it probably wont do any harm at all right?

Cheers

I just flushed mine with a jug of dechlored tapwater after rinsing in plain tapwater. No probs for me :)

 I just happen to spot your thread and know a bit about Eheim :look:

Did mine under the tap.... the conditioner I added to the tank would sort the chlorine ! The reason you must NEVER rinse a working filter under the tap is because it will kill the bacteria that we need, but as its a new filter, theres no danger of that !
