Eheim Pump

Any of you that use Eheim pumps I would appreciate some guidence. == I have been taking it apart and cleaning all of the food and other gunk that gets in there about every two months. I assume the stones in the pump should just be rinsed in some tank water. What about the sponges? I have been changing the thick blue one about every six months and the black and the white about every two months. Is this OK or should I leave them in longer since they have the mature media on them? Some ideas would be appreciated.

I would just keep rinseing all of them in old tank water. I wouldn't replace them until they started to fall apart.

my eheim is 18 months old and i still use the original blue sponge.i dont use carbon sponge in my eheim and i take out my white top one and keep rinsing it in tank water until its on its last legs then i add a new one.
