Hi,

Ive just bought the eheim ecco pro filter, its brand new and im running it in my bedroom, i know you have to expect some type of noise from a canister filter, but i can still clearly hear this buzzing/loud humming, even though it's sitting on a towel and has a towel wrapped around it entirely. . i bought this because i read they were quiet. In my case thats not my experience and i'm getting frustrated already. This is so going to be a complete annoyance in the dead of night.

Any ideas on what I could do as im planning to try and sleep with this tonight.

Thank you.

Check to make sure there is no air inside. Generally tilting it slightly on the side and setting it straight again a few times helps. Also check to make sure it isn't touching anything like the cabinet side.

I started the filter a few times and made sure all the baskets were fitted together and that everything looked fine. All the air seems to be out cant seem any bubbles being pumped through and the flow seems good, its just the humming, maybe im expecting too much and tuning into the sound, its just im a little bit disappointed with this filter, it's not as impressive as the reviews said, it just feels awkward.

I had a look at the impeller, but i've never really had to sort one out before so dont really know what im looking for, wondered if it could be vibrations from that?

Lolly.

I've never used eheim before but my tetratec filter makes a noise until all the air is out. The tetratec has a large button to press down to do this. Maybe there is something similar on the eheim?

I mentioned air because every Eheim I have ever seem was absolutely silent.. my filters only make a noise when there is air inside.

Thats the same reason I am frustrated with this one, eheim are usually silent as i've used them before, the shop said they'd sort out the issue for me, but its just inconvenience. I dont know if it'd be worth trying to reseat the impeller or something like that. I have no clue how to do, never need to before.
