Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I am worried that I am experiencing some bypass issues with my Eheim 2026. When I look at the manual I'm noticing the design of the 2026 and 2028 looks like there is no way around it.

The intake and impeller output are both at the top about an inch from each other, and there is a good inch of clearance from the top basket and the impeller, and no tube sealing off the input and directing water to the bottom of the canister. The baskets are connected in a way to allow a passage of water to the bottom though.

While some water and gunk would find its way to the bottom eventually, wouldn't the majority of it go straight from the intake, over to the impeller???? I recieved mine used so I don't know if I'm missing a part or something, but I'm not seeing anything here: http://www.eheim.de/eheim/pdf/en/anl..._2028_2128.pdf

My water quality is good, as I have a heavily stocked tank and never any issues with ammonia or nitrite, but there is an aweful lot of debris floating around in the water constantly, especially for my low flow rate (75 gallons, just the one filter). Am I missing something here, or is my filter just bringing muck in and spitting most of it right back out the spray bar?
