My marble Boy Jasper, and my blue/red girl in the spwning tank. They have been in since Monday.
I was away for 6-7 hours and when I came back to check on them I noticed something looking yellow in the nest. He has not moved an inch from beneath it for the whole while, excvept to flare and chase my female. Am I imagining things because I wished so much? They are together in one bubble nest, and the female still has bars and her Ovi is still visible.

I tried getting a picture... But it didn't work out without my males flare getting in the way of the spot I think I see eggs in.

Should I Remove the female? I do not want to destroy the nest and destroy the mating process for no reason. Is there a good way of knowing? Should I leave the female in? He does not seem to be hurting her. She does not have a single rip till now, as he is quite gentle. I think it is making him protect his nest better, and perhaps will it stop him from eating eggs?

I am no expert but if they were mine I would say enough is enough and try to take the girl out. If you do it carefully, the nest might be Ok. He might turn on her, either that or keep a very close eye on them for a few hours :good: :good:

Okay, I separated them. It caused a bit of nest damage, so he just made it a bit denser. I am sure there were eggs in the nest, as I saw one float away and he brought it back to the nest.
YAY! Eggs at last :D

:hyper: keep us posted. Mum having a lay down now is she? Dad smoking a cigar? :shout: :shout:

You can be sure of that ;)

Female's having a bit of a rest, in my community instead of sorority, as it would probably stress her, but I want the temperature non-fluctuations so I am floating her in the community.
Male is tending the nest quite nicely, he changed its location a bit, but he is still doing good.

I am leaving a flashlight shining on the nest overnight, lets hope I don't lose sleep over it (am a light sleeper).

Not sure whether I should feed him, so I think I will just wait till they are horizontal swimmers first.

i dont feed mine when they have eggs they usually ignore the food it rots and causes ammonia problems,, try looking under the nest have the flash light tilted under ur eyes and look up at the nest u should see them easy that way and leave a light on for him at all times if its gets dark near him,, if he cant see the eggs that will drop down he can put them back up to keep them alive good luck!

Awww well done, don't make my mistake - I was neurotic and nosey and then dad ate the eggs and ended up with a really bad stress disease and is now having to grow his fins back, just leave him to it and don't let him see you looking at his eggs, that's what I did and I so regret it now xx

Wooops, I have already....
My last spawn, the male ate all the eggs except 1, which I hatched by myself.

I routinely check to be sure he has not eaten any, and to watch him work, he does not seem to mind, and mainly ignores me unless he is utterly bored, then he comes over to check me out. I am hoping they will all hatch soon :D

More are dropping from the nest now, and I believe they are beginning to hatch, though I can't be sure.

Lets hope my new hatchlings don't get eaten. Dad is blowing the little screaming children back into the nest only to have them sink back down, wiggle a bit, then if he's lucky, manage to get back up by his/her self.
Only a few are still in balls. Poor father has been racing back up and down for a couple hours now. Wish me luck!
